DAANCE: Dental Anesthesia Assistant Certification

The DAANCE exam is a two-part certification program consisting of self-study modules and a final standardized test. Successful candidates demonstrate proficiency in basic sciences, evaluation and preparation of patients with systemic diseases, and anesthetic drugs and techniques. Try our DAT Practice Test.

1. Employment - You must be employed by an AAOMS fellow or member to be eligible for DAANCE online registration.
2. Registration - Your sponsoring surgeon registers you for the DAANCE program through the AAOMS website.
3. Self-Study - Complete the 36-hour self-study course, including quizzes on DAANCE test questions.
4. CPR Certification - Maintain a valid BLS/CPR and ACLS (optional but recommended) certification.
5. Schedule Exam - Once eligible, schedule your DAANCE exam at a PSI testing center within the 6-month window.
6. Take the Test - Pass the final computer-based examination with a score of 75% or higher.
7. Renewal - Renew your certification every two years by completing continuing education requirements.

Expect a total investment between $325 and $600 for your DAANCE certification. Many oral surgery practices will reimburse this DAANCE cost upon successful completion.
